Kewaunee/Door Counties

  • Sturgeon Bay Harbor, WI and Lake Michigan Ship Canal surveys and repairs ($630,000) – This funding will go to the Army Corps of Engineers to complete project surveys and repairs to the south breakwater by the Government floating plant.  Requested by the Army Corps of Engineers for Fiscal Year 2008.
  • Kewaunee Harbor, WI surveys and repairs ($430,000) – This funding will go to the Army Corps of Engineers to complete project surveys and repairs to the detached north breakwater by the Government floating plant.  Requested by the Army Corps of Engineers for Fiscal Year 2008.   
  • Congressman Kagen played a key role in ensuring that the 2007 Farm bill (H.R. 2419) placed the Great Lakes in par with Chesapeake Bay when appraised for federal funding. 
  • Expansion of Wisconsin Highway 57 from Dyckesville to Sturgeon Bay, WI ($250,000) – This project is an expansion of Highway 57 from Dyckesville to Sturgeon Bay.  It is a principal artery connecting I-43 from Milwaukee, US 41 from the Fox Valley and WIS 29 from western Wisconsin.  It serves the commercial and residential areas of the city of Sturgeon Bay and communities throughout Door County.  Increasing traffic volumes, especially during the summer months, underscore the need for WIS 57 to be upgraded.  Requested by WisDOT for Fiscal Year 2008.
