FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 8, 2010
(GREEN BAY, WI) – Congressman Steve Kagen, M.D. is calling for a halt to the Renard Island Causeway project.
In a letter to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Inspector General’s Office, Dr. Kagen expressed concerns over discrepancies in a construction project awarded by the Corps and asked that work be postponed pending Congressional investigation.
“There is something terribly wrong with this awarding process and the dollar amount of the contract itself–stop the engines now.” Kagen wrote.
On Oct 1, Kagen contacted Army Corps Lt. General Robert Van Antwerp after learning of constituent concerns over the award, asking for a detailed explanation of the process.
Kagen subsequently spoke with House Transportation & Infrastructure Chairman James Oberstar and House Committee on Oversight & Government Reform Chairman Edolphus Towns to discuss an investigation.
