KAGEN, PETRI, KOHL AND FEINGOLD SPONSOR SERVICE ACADEMY DAY

(APPLETON, WI) – Congressman Steve Kagen, M.D, along with Congressman Tom Petri and Senators Herb Kohl and Russ Feingold, will convene ‘Academy Day 2010,’ on Saturday, September 25, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Center in Oshkosh. 

This seminar is open to Wisconsin high school students, parents, guidance counselors, and others who have an interest in the admissions process of the U.S. Service Academies.  Qualifications and the procedures for applying to the academies will be explained.  Registration is not required.

“It is a privilege to nominate the most talented and capable young men and women to our nation’s military academies,” Kagen said. "Students from Northeast Wisconsin have performed well at the service academies, and it is a pleasure to for me to help maintain Wisconsin’s tradition of excellence in military service and to foster our state’s contribution to the ranks of our nation’s future military leaders.”

Representatives from the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, the U.S. Military Academy and the U.S. Naval Academy will all be present to answer questions and distribute information about their academies.  Academies will also be represented by a Wisconsin cadet/midshipman currently attending the academy to share their first-hand experiences. 

Congressman Kagen encourages all interested students and parents to attend. 

Applications for nomination to the U.S. Service Academies must be received by Congressman Kagen’s Green Bay office no later than October 15, 2010.  Details can be found on the Congressman’s official website at kagen.house.gov.

The EAA Center is located at 3000 Poberezny Road in Oshkosh.
