KAGEN RECOGNIZES NORTHEAST WISCONSIN BUSINESS EXCELLENCE

Northeast Wisconsin continues to lead the way, creating quality affordable products

WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman Steve Kagen. M.D. recognizes Eighth Congressional District winners of the annual Wisconsin Procurement Institute Governor’s Federal Contractor Award. Two out of the five firms receiving this year’s award are located in Northeast Wisconsin.

“Wisconsin Made- Wisconsin Great!” declared Dr. Kagen.

In 2009, Wisconsin moved to 16th in the ranking for federal contract funds with $9.2 billion in federal sales.

Wisconsin produces some of the highest quality manufactured products anywhere,” said Dr. Kagen.  “This is something we’ve known all along, but the rest of the world is becoming increasingly aware of.

“Congratulations to the companies in Northeast Wisconsin for doing their part to build a stronger economy for all of us.”

On May 7th, Congressman Kagen will be hosting a seminar in Appleton with the Wisconsin Procurement Institute (WPI), which helps state companies sell products and services to federal, state, local agencies and prime contractors.

WPI is a non-profit organization that was established in 1987 by Wisconsin Congressman Les Aspin. In the last five years, Wisconsin businesses have credited WPI with helping them win contracts worth several billion dollars. This is the fourth year that WPI has held a Governor’s Awards Program to draw attention to companies successfully attracting federal contracts.

The awardees in the Eight Congressional District are as follows:

Aqualand Manufacturing – Woodruff, Oneida County, has been a veteran-owned business since 1959. It fabricates a specialty line of marine-docking products. The company has recently expanded to the federal government market and had its first federal sales in 2009, manufacturing products for the Department of Defense, Commissary Service, and National Park Service.

Fox Valley Metal-Tech, Inc. – Green Bay, Brown County, formed in 1989, provides metal and stainless steel fabrication services. The company also provides assembly services for a variety of equipment in multiple industries.
