“Jay Johnson was a kind and gentle friend to everyone in Northeast Wisconsin.”

(APPLETON, WI)  Congressman Steve Kagen, M.D. is deeply saddened by the sudden passing of former Congressman Jay Johnson.

“Jay Johnson was a kind and gentle friend to everyone in Northeast Wisconsin.  He served the best interests of all our families and will be missed greatly.  Gayle and I extend our deepest sympathies to JoLee and their entire family.”

Jay Johnson represented the 8th District of Wisconsin in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1996 to 1998. He was appointed director of the U.S. Mint by President Bill Clinton in 2000 and served in that position for two years.
